Pardon me while I state the obvious, but it FINALLY has sunk in.
I have spent the past few years avoiding anything baby related. I never let my cell phone out of sight knowing that it would be the delivery agent for our news when it came. Everyday was being lived just to pass time till we learned of our child.
Today that changed.
About halfway through a meeting this afternoon, I motioned for my cell phone. After shuffling in panic for a few moments looking for it, I realized I must have left it on my desk. In it’s place I grabbed my jotter which also serves as a device to keep Peanut’s pictures crisp and close. Later in the day, I signed up for weekly updates from B@bycenter.com. While reading about what my 7 week old should be doing right now it hit me.
We have a beautiful little boy!! A son. A child. We have someone who we can show the world. Someone else in our family to love and adore.
Even though he is not with us in person yet, Peanut has already become our son.
Does this mean you’ve started to collect stuff for the nursery, etc? Swings, teething rings, and things that go bing?
I’m so excited for you guys. My cell phone has been glued to my hip for the past 2 wks. I’m looking forward to the day I don’t panic when I leave it at home.
🙂
This post made me smile. What a nice realization to have.
I’m not sure my comment went through.. I tagged you!
Thanks for your e-mail!
YOU’RE A MOM!
Momma J….
At our house we started “assigning” duties before we brought our little man home. After dinner (while he was still in ET) I would ask who was going to tuck him in for bed tonight 🙂
In the morning we would call for all three children to come eat breakfast… it was fun and it made us all laugh.
Try calling M at work and mentioning that daycare called and your Peanut is has a slight fever and needs to be picked up immediately 🙂
And after grocery shopping announce out loud that you forgot to buy diapers again!
Before bed each night, pop in to the nursery and say goodnight Peanut. To give M a hard time you might comment on the temperature in the room too 🙂
I know I am a weirdo, but we had a lot of fun with it at our house. And the funny part is, I can see him there in those palces tht he wasn’t. The little stories we made up, I picture as if he was there.
